My Process

My works are painted on a hard board coated in a textured clay surface produced by Ampersand. This surface absorbs watercolor like fine papers but allows the ability to paint many layers of color to create excellent tonal shifts and beautiful detail. Paintings are created on your choice of a flat or a deep-cradled clay panel. The finished painting is sealed with Dorland’s Wax. This offers an organic natural satin finish, protecting the painting and, if desired, making the use of glass and frame unnecessary.

When you commission me to paint a custom portrait, I will work directly with you to be very certain your painting meets your expectations.

The following prices are based on clay panel size, single figure portraits created against simple tonal backgrounds.

The price may differ with the number of subjects included, how much of the subject(s) is to be depicted and the complexity and intricacy of clothing, props, etc.

In initiating the submission for a custom painting, one of the most important aspects of this process is choosing your photograph(s). As these are the only references I have to work from, photographs should be chosen carefully, with the understanding the detail and quality of the artwork is largely dependent on the quality of the photographs sent. Photographs must be free of copyright or accompanied by a signed release form from the photographer.

Following approval of the photographs(s), payment is accepted securely through PayPal via email invoicing.

Commissions are completed in the order they are received. A single painting takes approximately six to eight weeks; however, this may vary as it is dependent upon the extent of detail of your specific piece, how many orders are in process at the time and materials, if any, that need to be ordered for your painting. Typically, the artwork will be shipped within eight weeks of the order.

If interested, I can send images of your painting in progress. Upon completion, an image will be emailed to you for viewing.

All artwork is validated with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA).
